Dramatic Makeup: How Much Is Too Much?
By Glenna | March 9, 2008
I was looking for videos on YouTube today and I came across this clip about high-fashion makeup. The makeup artist in the video believes that in order to achieve a high-fashion look, you need to wear plenty of foundation, fake eyelashes, and black liquid eyeliner (pencil eyeliner simply won’t do). I understand what she’s saying– you need to look really dramatic to achieve a high-fashion style. But still… I’m not sure that I like the outcome of the makeover. It looks a little Halloween-ish, no? Let me know what you think.

Zac Posen for Target
By Glenna | February 29, 2008

Zac Posen– who created the white gown worn by Katherine Heigl at the Emmys– has created a clothing collection for Target. The items range from $49.99 to $299.99, and, as you can see in the first picture, Posen has even included a red (and cheaper) version of the Katherine Heigl gown. I think this may be one of the best designer collections that Target has released. The pieces are cute, stylish, and modern. What do you think?

Project Runway: Most Competitive Season Yet
By Glenna | February 27, 2008
In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Tim Gunn stated that this season of “Project Runway” presents the “stiffest competition [they’ve] ever had.” As of right now, Rami, Jillian, Chris, and Christian are left. Only three of the designers got to show their collections at New York Fashion Week, and soon enough, we’ll find out who those designers were! I’m personally rooting for Jillian and Christian (who were guaranteed a spot at Fashion Week). Jillian’s clothes are cute and wearable, and Christian’s clothes are fashionable and top-quality.

Who Wore It?
By Glenna | February 26, 2008
Put your skills to the test and see if you can determine which celebrity wore this gown to the 2008 Oscars. It’s a gorgeous red dress, and the actress is quite lovely herself!

Drew Barrymore on the Cover of Vogue
By Glenna | February 21, 2008
Who doesn’t love Drew Barrymore? She recently graced the cover of “Vogue” in an adorable yet sexy red dress. I love the dress, I love the photograph, and I love her character. I gotta hand it to “Vogue”– they really chose a good cover girl this time!

Handmade Wallets: Worth the Big Price Tag?
By Glenna | February 18, 2008

Handmade items are always a special part of any wardrobe. Someone recently told me about April in Paris, a company that sells handmade leather goods such as wallets and belts. The picture on the left shows a credit card case by April in Paris– it’s definitely cute and stylish, but it unfortunately costs from $350 to $650, depending on which leather you choose. I’m sure the quality is great, but that’s just too much to spend on a credit card case (at least for me personally!). Good thing there are cheaper alternatives, like this red leather snap wallet or this Fendi Zucca canvas long snap wallet.

International Style
By Glenna | February 17, 2008
For Spring 2008, designers have embraced a motif that reminds one of tribes and safaris. Recurring styles include geometric prints, mix-and-match patterns, beads, and feathers. Of course, not all of these styles are wearable. I think it would be especially fun to experiment with tribe-style accessories, like this Fendi Spy bag in tan grained leather.

Here Comes the Sun
By Glenna | February 16, 2008
The new eyewear line by Emilio Pucci features sunglasses with bright colors, bold prints, and over-sized frames. They’re very cute for summer, and would look especially good with a color-coordinated outfit! But sometime we need a more classic pair of sunglasses– like these gold side plate sunglasses by Versace.

The Steve Madden Chap: Hot or Not?
By Glenna | February 15, 2008
The Chap– Steve Madden’s latest design– is a stiletto bootie (4.75-inch heel) made of genuine leather. It also has a hidden 1-inch platform and a leather sole. The Chap comes in black, white, brown, grey, tan, cream, and fuschia, and each pair costs $150. Maybe you can already see yourself wearing the Chap, perhaps pairing it with a pencil skirt and opaque tights, or with a minidress. Or maybe you think these shoes belong in the trash!

Cynthia Steffe Fall 2008 Collection
By Glenna | February 15, 2008

For the fall 2008 season, Cynthia Steffe created a cohesive collection, with styles such as: neutrals paired with bright colors, prints and florals, and feminine textures. The items range from long jackets to structured pants to dresses. I like the dresses the best, I think– they’re fun and cute, and all are shorter than knee-length. What do you think of the collection?
